Name2,3-diaminopropionic acid biosynthesis
TypePATHWAY
DescriptionL-2,3-diaminopropionic acid (Dap) is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of a number of metabolites, such as the siderophore staphyloferrin B. Cheung, et al. (2009) cite their own unpublished results that SbnA and SbnB produce Dap. SbnA is a pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzyme distantly related to diaminopropionate ammonia-lyase. SbnB shows homology to an NAD-dependent alanine dehydrogenase of Archaeoglobus fulgidus. The two occasionally occur as a fusion protein.
