Namenodulation factor production
TypeSYSTEM
DescriptionThe gene trio nodABC, found in non-photosynthetic rhizobia such as Rhizobium meliloti that form root (not stem) nodules, produce the enzymes that create Nod factors. These mono-N-acylated chitooligosaccharide signals not only trigger the establishment of nitrogen-fixing root nodules, but also vary in ways that determine host range.
