AccessionGenProp1030
NameO88(Ec) antigen biosynthesis
TypeMETAPATH
DescriptionThe E. coli O88 antigen monomer is a branched tetrasaccharide with the structure: [->4)aDMan{(3<-1)aL6dTal}(1->3)aDMan(1->3)bDGlcNAc(1->] [1]. There is currently no experimental literature on the genes involved in the biosynthesis. The expectation, however is that there should be three distinct glycosytransferases and genes for the biosynthesis of GDP-D-mannose and a nucleotide-activated L-6-deoxy-talose.
JCVI RoleBiosynthesis and degradation of surface polysaccharides and lipopolysaccharides
