CommentThis enzyme interconverts chorismate and isochorismate. In E. coli, different loci encode isochorismate synthases for the pathways of menaquinone biosynthesis and enterobactin biosynthesis (via salicilate) and fail to complement each other. Among isochorismate synthases, the N-terminal domain is poorly conserved.
