CommentThis enzyme, which is found in biotin biosynthetic gene clusters in proteobacteria, firmicutes, green-sulfur bacteria, fusobacterium and bacteroides, is believed to carry out an enzymatic step prior to the formation of pimeloyl-CoA (although attribution of this annotation is not traceable). The enzyme appears related to methyltransferases by homology.
