CommentThis enzyme acts in the biosynthesis of histidine and has been characterized in S. cerevisiae [1] and Arabidopsis [2] where it complements the E. coli HisA gene. In eukaryotes the gene is known as HIS6. In bacteria, this gene is found in Fibrobacter succinogenes, presumably due to lateral gene transfer from plants in the rumen gut.
