CommentThis model describes stage V sporulation protein AE, a paralog of stage V sporulation protein AC. Both are proteins found to present in a species if and only if that species is one of the Firmicutes capable of endospore formation, as of the time of the publication of the genome of Carboxydothermus hydrogenoformans. Mutants in spoVAE have a stage V sproulation defect.
