Comment | In Myxococcus xanthus, the protein pair TraA (MXAN_6895) and TraB (MXAN_6898) are required for contact-dependent exchange of outer membrane proteins. The C-terminal half of TrA consists largely of Cys-rich tandem repeats. This model describes the N-terminal region of TraA, and related protein MXAN_4924. This region is suggested to be similar to the lectin PA14. Members of this family are restricted to a subset of the Myxococcales, and so have a narrower species distribution than the MYXO-CTERM putative protein sorting signal (TIGR03901), which is universal in the Myxococcales. Note that TIGR04201 matches at least seven repeats in the C-terminal region of TraA. T |
