Research Interests and Accomplishments
Mathangi Thiagarajan is a Bioinformatics Team Lead in the Informatics Department at the J. Craig Venter Institute. Her interests and expertise include project management, pipeline design, large scale genomic data analysis, gene identification, pathways analysis, comparative genomics, tools development, and improving structural and functional annotation of eukaryotic and meta genomes. She is also part of a team that teaches eukaryotic genome annotation and analysis courses. Prior to this position she worked as a liaison for the microarray software group in the functional genomics department at the former TIGR.
Ms. Thiagarajan earned her Masters in Bioinformatics from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and New Jersey Institute of Technology where her specialization was genomics and gene expression data analysis. She also earned master’s degree in Biochemistry and bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Bharathidasan University, India.
