Mobile Laboratory Equipment
DISCOVER GENOMICS! Science Education Program supports middle science teachers through making available to them at no cost equipment, reagents and supplies required to perform the Mobile Laboratory Activities. These activity kits are available for loan to qualifying teachers. Qualifying teachers have participated in molecular biology training in the past two years - proof will be required. The DISCOVER GENOMICS! Science Education Program Staff is available to assist any educator who wants to borrow supplies to do the Mobile Laboratory activities or select molecular biology procedures in their classroom. Schools with in a 75-mile radius of JCVI are eligible.
Activities include:
- Mobile Laboratory activities
- Restriction endonucleases
- Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
- DNA sequencing
Interested teachers must fill out the application and submit it to the Education Group a minimum of one month prior to the requested loan date.
