Curriculum Workshop
The J. Craig Venter Institute invites local middle school educators to attend the Curriculum Workshop. The objective of this five-day workshop is to give educators an opportunity to learn first hand the scientific techniques currently employed in laboratories, such as DNA isolation, gel electrophoresis, paper chromatography, and protein analysis. In addition, participants will be eligible to participate in the Mobile Laboratory Science Education Program.

Course Details
Workshop attendees will learn current scientific theory and techniques used in the hands-on activities offered in the Science Education Program. In addition, they will learn about current research going on at the Institute, tour the facility and be the firsts to participate in new activities developed. Attendees who teach middle school in the Washington, DC metropolitan area within a 50-mile radius of Rockville are eligible to schedule up to four visits by the Mobile Laboratory for their students during the 2009-2010 school year.
The Curriculum Workshop will be held at the J. Craig Venter Institute in Rockville, MD, August 3-7, 2009 from 9:00am to 3:30pm.

If you would like to attend Curriculum Workshop, please send a letter stating your interest and qualifications, as well as summer contact information to Lisa McDonald by June 19, 2009. The Curriculum Workshop is limited to 12 participants.
