Brassicaceae Genomics
Overview
The JCVI Plant Genomics Group is involved in several collaborative projects to generate genomic sequence data from Brassica, a genus of plants in the mustard family Brassicaceae (e.g. cabbage, oilseed, broccoli, cauliflower). We are doing comparative genomics of three species - Brassica oleracea, Brassica rapa and Brassica napus, which will help us better understand plant genome evolution and to analyze the genetic control of important traits in Brassica crops. This research has also enhanced sequencing and annotation of the Arabidopsis thaliana genome as part of the NSF 2010 initiative.
